Vector-Borne Diseases in the UK - Third Meeting

The third meeting on 'Vector-Borne Diseases in the UK' will take place at the Foresight Centre, University of Liverpool on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 November 2016, with an informal dinner for delegates at The Liner Hotel in Liverpool on the night of 29 November.

This meeting is supported through the Vector Biology and Climate Modelling Theme of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections.

As previously, the purpose of the meeting is to bring together members of the major UK research groups who have an interest in vectors or vector-borne diseases which could be a threat to the UK, groups with wider but related areas of interest, members of key UK Government Departments and their Agencies, and representatives of European organisations with an interest in this topic. Thus it is intended that the meeting will not only provide a valuable forum for researchers to meet and exchange information and ideas, but also assist UK Government Departments and their Agencies to assess accurately the risks posed by both new and emerging disease agents, set policies which mitigate these risks and avoid activities and policies which increase them.
